How we work

Latest regulatory developments

Monitoring of the developments with the greatest practical impact on the sector, with an assessment of what they mean for operators.

Regulatory solutions

[01] Entry into the EU Market

For operators established outside the Union who intend to place food products or food supplements on the EU market.

The substantive rules on product status, labelling and commercial communication are largely harmonised, so one analysis serves the whole internal market. Enforcement, however, remains national. We analyse the EU framework together with its application in Spain; where a case calls for another national layer, we work with local specialists.

Food advertising review

A complete campaign — visuals, context and channel — can contain infringements that no single claim reveals when assessed in isolation.

Novel food status assessment

Launching an ingredient without first establishing its status under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 may force the withdrawal of products already manufactured.

[DIR-2024/825]

Environmental claims audit

Directive (EU) 2024/825 sets 27 September 2026 as the date of application of its prohibitions on generic environmental claims, claims based on emissions offsetting and sustainability labels not based on a certification scheme.

[02] Entry into the Spanish Market

For operators established in the EU who already market their products in another Member State and are extending distribution to Spain.

[REG-2019/515]

Mutual recognition feasibility

Before relying on mutual recognition to sell in Spain a product lawfully marketed in another Member State, test whether the case will hold: a full procedure built on a weak case can mean months lost to a refusal.

Environmental claims on food: why Directive 2024/825 does not apply on its own

The practical question is not whether the Directive will reach the sector once it is transposed, but whether today's labels would withstand scrutiny under food law itself.
